He cut his teeth in the community with the World Famous Golden Falcons of HS-2 in San Diego, CA, deploying and then transitioning the squadron from the legacy H-60F/H to the MH-60S. Following his first shore duty, Commander Whitehouse deployed as the helicopter operations officer for Carrier Air Wing THREE, supporting HSC-7 and the rest of Team Battle Axe. As a department head, he deployed with the Tridents of HSC-9. He has completed several extended deployments in support of several coalition exercises and Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Freedom Sentinel, and Inherent Resolve onboard aircraft carriers USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72), USS HARRY S. Ashore, Commander Whitehouse's assignments include duties as a weapons and tactics instructor for the SH-60F, HH-60H, and MH-60S aircraft at the Norfolk headquarters of the HSC Weapons School; trusted agent in the operational development and test of the 20mm weapons system; department head for the HSC Weapons School, Atlantic; and Assistant Deputy Director for Operations on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, J-3. At the request of the Commander, Carrier Strike Group ELEVEN, he established and led a pre-deployment quarantine detachment in order to guarantee that critical manning requirements could be filled without placing the health of the strike group at risk.

Commander Whitehouse is currently the Executive Officer of the Screamin' Indians of HSC-6.

Commander Whitehouse has had the pleasure of working beside the finest Sailors in the Fleet and his successes are underpinned by their relentless effort. As a result, he is entitled to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and several joint, naval service, and personal unit and campaign awards. He is a 2010 graduate of the Navy Rotary Wing Weapons School (SEAWOLF), and has accumulated over 2,100 mishap-free flight hours in the service of his country.
